Turbocharge Your DrugPak
DP Client/Server is
an add-on to DrugPak that makes it possible for a network installation
of DrugPak to run faster and more reliably. Scanlon Associates made DP
Client/Server available because many companies that use DrugPak are
growing and require the additional power that Client/Server provides.
DP
Client/Server is not like the other add-on modules of DrugPak. It is
not another DP program. It does not add new buttons or new reports and
there is nothing new to learn. What it does is make all of your DrugPak
modules run FAST ... really, really fast!
How DP Client/Server Works DP
Client/Server changes the way that DrugPak operates across your network
by shifting most of the workload from the workstation to the server.
When you are using DrugPak on a network without DP Client/Server, large
volumes of data are transferred through your network from your server
to your workstation. Then the processor in the workstation works with
the information and stores it back on the server when it has completed
its task.
When using DP Client/Server, the workstation directs
the server to perform the task. Since the server doesn't have to wait
for the information to move across the network, tasks execute much
faster. Also, since the data is not moving across the network, nearly
all of the possible problems caused by network or workstation failure
are eliminated.
How DP Client/Server Saves You Money The
essential return from an investment in DrugPak Client/Server is that
you will save time. Typical operations are reduced 50 - 75%. but you
don't need to take our word for it as you can try Client/Server

Another issue Client/Server
protects you against is data corruption caused by minor events such as
a workstation, power, or network failures. The structure of DP

DrugPak Advisory Committee Membership Invitation
It was great to see so many of you at the DATIA Conference last
week in Dallas. In our conversations
there and through dozens of phone calls over the past two weeks the reaction to
the recent DrugPak ownership change has been overwhelmingly positive. We
appreciate your comments and suggestions, and we've been taking notes. What
matters to you matters to us, which is why we have an exciting announcement to
make!
DrugPak is establishing an Advisory Committee of loyal users
who wish to play a vital part in shaping our future. Who better to ask to advise us in the development of new software
solutions and improving our customer service than our faithful clients? The DrugPak Advisory Committee will consist
of between 8-12 individuals each from a different DrugPak client. The group
will participate in 3-4 conference call committee meetings each year, receive
and have the opportunity to respond to various email and telephone
correspondence, and be asked to critique ideas and suggestions made by the
general client base.
Over the course of time we believe that the DrugPak Advisory
Committee will play a valuable role in helping to identify the precise services
that will make doing your job easier, more efficient and contribute to an
improved bottom line for your company. DrugPak Advisory Committee members will
often be "first in line" to try out new software products and contribute to
DrugPak publications.
Though all DrugPak users will benefit from the work of the
Advisory Committee, it is our intention to make participation on the committee
a rewarding experience in and of itself.
As we anticipate a strong response to this solicitation
letter, the initial selections to the committee will be made according
to pre-established criteria. For instance,
we would like the committee to represent a mix of large and small companies,
long-time and relatively new DrugPak users, and representatives from various
parts of the country. However, to ensure that all DrugPak users who desire to
participate on the committee have an opportunity to do so, appointments to the
committee will be for two years with half of the original group being
designated to serve a three-year term to create an overlap from group to group
going forward.
If you wish to be considered for selection to the
initial DrugPak Advisory Committee please complete an application
by Friday, May 31, 2008. We will announce the
selections in the near future. In the meantime, thank you for your
continued support of DrugPak. We value our association with you and
intend to do all
within our power to add value to that relationship. |
DrugPak Withholds Windows Server 2008 Compatibility Assessment
Recently technicians at the DrugPak Support Desk have
fielded a variety of issues related to Windows Server 2008 that caused
problems for DrugPak users.
Our R&D team has obtained a copy of Windows Server 2008 and is
working on producing a comprehensive compatibility assessment within
the next 14 days.
In the meantime, we recommend that you do not deploy Windows Server 2008 to host your DrugPak installation.

Using Result Defaults
The
Result Default system in DrugPak is designed to make your data entry
easier. There are default values in the Global Settings, the
Company window, the Home Base window and in Random Selection Defaults.
When entering results into DrugPak these values are automatically
inserted, saving you a few clicks for every result.
The
different levels of default values are cascading, which means that the
top-level (global settings) are used unless there is a default for that
value in the next level (company window), which are used unless there
are values in the next level (home base). When considering random
selection tests, the default values in the random selection profile are
the final level.
Where
all results in your DrugPak go through the same laboratory, then that
value should be set in the global settings and left blank in all other
levels. Where most results are collected at the same collection
site then that should be your global default, and the other levels left
blank. If a company uses a different collection site than the
global default, then fill that in for that one company, leaving other
companies blank. If a home base uses a different collection site
then fill that in at the home base window. | |
